I've had my heart set on visiting New Zealand for ages, and I couldn't be happier that I chose MT Sobek for the journey. The guides were absolute pros and made the trip a blast. I really appreciated how they shared their knowledge about the local plants, animals, and Maori traditions. The trip covered the whole South Island, and even though we traveled quite a bit, the views from the windows were simply stunning. I’d totally suggest this adventure to anyone.

I feel it's my duty to share our experience. I've done a bunch of long treks and mountaineering trips, but I've never faced such a shockingly unprofessional and unsafe situation. This trek from MTS is their toughest and most demanding. It's in a really remote area, involving a glacier with several river crossings, steep inclines, and loose rocks. At the beginning of our journey, our American guide hurt his ankle badly, and despite having a senior staff member with us, he wasn’t sent back. It was super risky for him to continue on a 15-day trek, and he raised his concerns repeatedly. He needed assistance from other guides. If someone gets hurt, it can take ages to get them out. After our trek, he was sent on another trip without a replacement guide. An injured guide puts everyone at risk; they should’ve canceled the trip if there wasn’t a healthy guide available. Plus, I have Celiac disease and was promised gluten-free meals after checking multiple times. The cook from Pakistan had no clue what gluten-free meant, leaving me with very few options throughout the journey. I ended up losing 12 pounds and was starving the entire time. When I asked MTS if I should bring my own gluten-free snacks, they said no, claiming it would be extra weight and that they would provide food. They didn’t. This physically demanding trek with so little food was really tough. MTS clearly didn’t prioritize the safety of their clients or the well-being of their guides.

I was absolutely thrilled with our two fantastic guides, the mule wranglers, and the support from the resupplier during our two-week adventure in the California Sierras. I had geared up for the challenges of the hike, but I ended up catching some bug early on that left me feeling wiped out from the physical demands. Consequently, I became the slowest hiker and made the tough choice to bow out at the resupply point, just past the halfway mark. Everyone was super kind and supportive, and the guides were exceptional in keeping pace with me, figuring out how to organize the hikes so that both the speedy and moderate hikers were satisfied, without pushing me to quit. The resupplier came to get me, took me back to the hotel where my car was parked, and even helped me secure a room for the night. I must say, the compassion shown by the guides and the attentiveness of MTSobek was truly remarkable.

This hiking adventure in Chile and Argentina was everything I dreamed it would be. Our guides, Andre and Lucio from Argentina, were simply outstanding—full of joy, super attentive, and really knowledgeable. They shared a ton of historical and natural insights that brought the local flora and fauna to life. I really appreciated how everyone was so eager to be out in nature hiking. The group was just awesome! We were all around the same age, and I loved connecting with so many women who shared the joy of hiking in such a stunning location. All these factors made this the best guided travel experience I've ever had.

We took part in the Ultimate Hiking Tour of Patagonia, covering both Chile and Argentina. This trip was absolutely incredible, definitely the best we've ever experienced. It was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of journey. Our group of eight hikers was just perfect and meshed so well together. The three guides we had were top-notch; they were not only professionals but also brimming with knowledge about the region's history, flora, and fauna. The accommodations were simply outstanding. We couldn't have wished for anything better. Fingers crossed we can embark on another adventure with Mt. Sobek somewhere else in the world!

I really dig this company! We've gone on trips with them several times. They have 'fixers' in every country to assist if plans shift. Their local guides are super knowledgeable about everything from nature to local customs.

This was truly an amazing hiking adventure! My husband and I joined a small group of 8 friendly and enthusiastic folks, none of whom we had met prior. Our guide in Argentina was absolutely wonderful. He was so patient, knowledgeable, and charming. The hikes in Patagonia were lengthy but not too tough, showcasing the most breathtaking views at every turn. We really enjoyed the horseback riding, the meals, and the kayaking. What a fantastic trip! I’m already looking forward to my next Mt Sobek journey (this was our first). And just so you know, even though we’re in our 70s, this trip was totally manageable for us. (level 3)

Our latest adventure in Ireland with MTS was absolutely fantastic. Every detail on the ground was well-handled, and our guide, Michelle Hughes, quickly grasped what we were into, tweaking the journey to add some amazing experiences that weren’t in the initial plan. We've consistently had awesome guides on all our MTS excursions!

In August 2021, my husband and I had an amazing adventure in Scotland (and let me tell ya, the sunny warm weather was a real treat). Our guide, Craig, was hands down the best we've ever had - he shared so much Scottish folklore, songs, and history. The MT Sobek itinerary, which included the northern mainland and the Isles of Skye, Harris, and Lewis, kept us engaged with its diverse landscapes and attractions. Everyone in our group, no matter their skill level, was well taken care of. The hotels were cozy, and the meals were absolutely delightful. We can't recommend this trip enough!

Our journey on the Camino de Santiago was truly incredible. The guides were super organized, very informed, kind, enjoyable to hang out with, and had some great tales to tell. The planned hikes were stunning and engaging. Plus, there was an abundance of food! And espresso! And wine! You could really see how much thought and effort went into organizing this trip. We’re definitely looking forward to traveling with MT Sobek again.

We really enjoy these treks and have been fortunate to have outstanding guides and experiences on each of our three hikes. The cultural and food experiences beyond the hiking itself have been incredible too!
